Following recent updates regarding Community Treatment and Assessment Centre (CTAC) provision in Strachur and Inveraray, the HSCP has implemented enhanced interim arrangements to maintain continuity of care while longer-term options are finalised.
CTAC provides routine monitoring appointments, including blood tests, ECGs and wound dressings, for patients with chronic conditions. Overall management and coordination of chronic disease care will continue to be delivered by local GP practices and Practice Nursing Teams, including referrals, urgent investigations and ongoing management.
Staffing has been secured to deliver a weekly visiting CTAC clinic in Inveraray and fortnightly clinics in Strachur throughout June, July and August. We anticipate that regular visiting clinics will continue beyond this period, although recruitment is ongoing. Appointments in Dunoon remain available for patients who would prefer to attend there.
The average wait from referral to appointment in a visiting clinic is less than two weeks, with appointments in Dunoon or Mid Argyll typically available within a few days. Demand and capacity will continue to be closely monitored.
We recognise that these circumstances have caused disruption and concern within local communities and would like to reassure patients that alternative provision has been implemented at pace, with an ongoing focus on patient safety, equity of access, and minimising disruption, while recruitment and service planning activities continue to support a sustainable longer‑term service model.
Engagement sessions are planned for July to introduce local communities to the service, provide further information on the role of CTAC, and gather lived experience to inform longer-term service planning.
