The Telecare Self-Check Online Tool continues to provide valuable support to individuals, families and carers across Argyll and Bute, helping them understand whether telecare could assist with safety, independence and wellbeing at home.

The Telecare Self-Check Online Tool guides users through a short set of questions about daily living needs, health conditions, and home safety considerations. It then provides tailored information on telecare options that may be appropriate, such as personal alarms, fall detectors, medication reminders and other assistive technologies.

Telecare services are widely used to support people to live independently for longer, while also offering reassurance to families and carers that help is available when needed. The self-check tool plays an important role in helping people understand these options in a clear, accessible way and identify potential support at an early stage.

Samantha Somers, Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Lead for Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership said: “The Telecare Self-Check Online Tool continues to be an important resource for people who may be considering additional support at home. It helps individuals and families better understand what telecare is and how it can make everyday life safer and more manageable.”

Key benefits of the tool include:

  • simple, user-friendly guidance based on individual circumstances
  • improved awareness of telecare services and available equipment
  • support for maintaining independence and safety at home
  • increased confidence for families and carers in planning support
  • easy access to relevant information and next steps

By supporting earlier awareness of telecare options, the tool helps individuals make informed decisions, reduce risks and maintain independence in their own homes for longer.
