Community Treatment & Care Services for Strachur & Inveraray GP Practice Patients

15th May 2026

Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is putting interim arrangements in place for Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) services for patients registered with Strachur and Inveraray medical practices, while we progress recruitment and planning for a longer‑term visiting CTAC service in both communities.

Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) is an NHS nurse‑led service that provides planned treatments and monitoring following referral from your GP.  This includes things like blood tests, wound care, injections and long‑term condition monitoring.

What is changing

From 1 May 2026, patients who meet the criteria for CTAC monitoring or chronic disease management within the CTAC service specification may be asked to attend the CTAC team in Dunoon for an appointment following changes to our rural flexibility arrangements with local GPs.

We recognise that this may mean additional travel for some patients during this interim period.  Our CTAC teams will make every effort to minimise disruption and support patients as best we can.  As and where possible, we will work with local practices and our existing workforce to support visiting clinics in the practices for priority patients.

What patients should do

•    If you need a CTAC appointment, your GP will advise you and arrange referral to the CTAC team in Dunoon who will in turn contact you with an appointment
•    If you are unable to travel, please let us know and we will work with you to make alternative arrangements during this transitional period.

Urgent care

Your local GP will continue to provide care for any urgent care requirements

Next steps

Work is underway to recruit additional staff and finalise the logistical arrangements required to introduce a visiting CTAC service model in Strachur and Inveraray.  We will provide a further update as soon as confirmed clinic arrangements and timescales are available.

We apologise for any inconvenience these interim arrangements may cause and thank patients for their understanding while we work to put sustainable local services in place.
