Routine breast screening is offered every three years to the eligible population between the ages of 50 and 70, and people are called by the GP Practice they are registered with.
The eligible population registered with the Nairn Healthcare Group were last invited for breast screening to the mobile unit in Nairn between November 2022 and February 2023 and are now due to be contacted again.
Due to recruitment challenges and the vast geography that the service covers, including the Western Isles, we have experienced delays within the breast screening programme.
In order to ensure continued delivery of the service, and to provide breast screening as safely as possible across the Highlands and Islands, the mobile unit will not be locating in Nairn for this round of screening and the eligible population will be invited to the Highland Breast Centre in Inverness for their routine breast screening appointment.
We have worked hard to explore a number of options to try to continue siting the mobile unit in Nairn, however, due to changing circumstances and wider service pressures, it has not been possible to progress this for the current screening round.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this required change. If you are over 70 you will not automatically be sent an appointment, but you can make an appointment by calling 01463 705416.
