Travelling by car

Directions for driving.

Heading north on the A9 towards Inverness

  • take the exit off the A9 signposted to Police HQ / Culcabock / Kingsmills / Hilton / Culduthel / Inshes retail park
  • take the 5th exit of the roundabout (right) signposted all other routes / Raigmore Hospital / town centre
  • turn right at the second set of traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

Heading south on the A9 passing Inverness

  • take the exit off the A9 signposted to Culloden / Croy / B9006 / Police HQ
  • turn left at the lights at the wide intersection
  • take the 4th exit of the roundabout (ahead) signposted Raigmore Hospital / Culcabock / B9006 / Kingsmills / town centre
  • turn right at the second set of traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

From Inverness city centre

  • head east along the main Academy Street
  • passing the Eastgate shopping centre and Morrisons supermarket, continue along Millburn Road
  • at the roundabout, take the third exit on to Old Perth Road / B9006
  • at the next roundabout, take the first exit to stay on Old Perth Road
  • turn left at the traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

From the A96 from Moray or Aberdeen

  • at the roundabout at the retail park approaching Inverness, take the second exit (straight ahead) to stay on the A96
  • at the next roundabout, take the first exit, signposted Perth A9
  • keep in the left lane when merging with the A9
  • take the next exit signposted Culloden, Croy and Raigmore Hospital
  • keep in the left lane
  • at the traffic lights at the top of the rise, turn left
  • take the 4th exit of the roundabout (straight ahead) signposted all other routes / Raigmore Hospital / town centre
  • turn right at the second set of traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

From the A82 from Fort William or Oban

  • at the roundabout at Torvean golf course, take the third exit to cross the Caledonian Canal at the swing bridge
  • take the second exit to turn right at the roundabout
  • stay on this distributor road which skirts around Inverness, following the signs for Raigmore Hospital and Perth
  • approaching the final roundabout, signposted to Police HQ, Raigmore Hospital and Inshes Retail Park, keep in the left lane
  • take the second exit, signposted Raigmore Hospital B9006 and city centre
  • turn right at the second set of traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

From the B9177 from Culloden, Cradlehall and Westhill

  • come downhill on Culloden Road, passing Simpsons Garden Centre on the left
  • go straight ahead across two junctions controlled by traffic lights, to the roundabout at Tesco
  • take the 4th exit of the roundabout (straight ahead) signposted Raigmore Hospital / Culcabock / B9006 / Kingsmills / town centre
  • turn right at the second set of traffic lights, into the hospital grounds
  • turn left into the main car park

Parking

Car parking is free of charge for staff, patients and visitors but is very limited. If you do need to drive, please allow plenty of extra time to find a space. The car park operates under an automatic number plate recognition barrier system. 

Parking bays nearest the hospital buildings are reserved for disabled drivers displaying Blue Badges. Staff are encouraged to use bays to the rear of the car park, leaving nearer bays free for patients.

There are pick-up and drop-off points at both front entrances to the hospital.  These can be used by private cars and taxis. The maximum waiting time is 10 minutes.

Please do not park in nearby residential streets.

City centre parking is available in Rose Street multi-storey car park, next to the bus station and a few minutes' walk from the bus service to Raigmore Hospital (see below).

Travelling by bus

Raigmore Hospital is easily accessed by public bus transport.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 15, 17, 37, X37 and X99

Buses to and from the city centre run at approximately 15-minute intervals throughout the day, Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:30, less frequently in the evenings and on Sundays.

From Inverness city centre

Buses from the city centre leave from Falcon Square, between Marks and Spencer and the Eastgate shopping centre.  This is a few minutes' walk from the railway station and bus station. There is also a bus stop at Queensgate, next to the main Post Office in the city centre.

From Raigmore Hospital

Buses from the bus stop in the Raigmore concourse take you into the city centre.

Walking and cycling

It takes about 30 minutes to walk into Inverness city centre.

There is a covered bike shelter at the front of the hospital.

Inverness has public electric bikes - see details at hi-bike.co.uk. There is a virtual station at Raigmore where you can terminate your trip. They are easy to ride and cheap to hire. Collect a bike from the charging stations at:
