Referral for termination of pregnancy

Women with an unplanned pregnancy who wish advice about considering abortion may seek help from:

• their GP
• or the Highland Sexual Health service
• or may self-refer to the Unintended Pregnancy service:

It is best to seek help as soon as is practical, as the staff within the Unintended Pregnancy Service would like to see you early in your pregnancy - as soon as six weeks since your last period. If you are experiencing delays in discussing your situation, it may be best to use this self-referral service.

For Argyll and Bute patients, support is available for unplanned pregnancy through your GP practice or through the Sandyford sexual health service in Glasgow.

You don’t need to have made a decision before you talk to the service about your options - they are happy to support you to make the best decision for you.
