Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) surveys

On this page

RAAC Discovery Survey Programme - a list of properties which are being surveyed across the NHS Highland estate.

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is surveying all NHS buildings in Scotland which could, due to their age, contain Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

Survey complete

Raigmore Hospital

NSS has informed us that some areas of the Raigmore estate contain RAAC. This includes areas in Zone 5 (which houses our renal services, the café and toilets), Zone 8 (corridor and catering) and Zone 9 (boiler house and waste).

NSS has assured us that there is no need to take action. The RAAC is not currently in a critical condition. We will monitor the areas, carry out risk assessments and contingency planning, in case any change in the situation requires action. The safety of our colleagues and patients is paramount and we will take action should any change occur which requires it.

New Craigs Hospital

RAAC has been identified in the Clava, Drumossie and Torvean buildings. We are awaiting an intrusive survey to check the condition of the RAAC.
