About neuropsychology

Neuropsychological assessment may help identify cognitive problems following a range of neurological diagnoses including:

• acquired brain injury
• epilepsy
• multiple sclerosis
• Huntington’s disease

The team also supports specialist rehabilitation after major injury, through Major trauma psychology as part of the Major trauma team.

Goal-based rehabilitation aims to minimise difficulties and teach skills and techniques to help cope and adapt to cognitive, emotional and behavioural changes following injury or diagnosis.

Self-help resources, group or individual interventions may be offered.

Attending appointments

Please check your letter for the details and location of your appointment. If you are in any doubt, please call us on the neuropsychology outpatients phone number and we will confirm the details.

First appointments are very often by telephone. Please make sure we have your up-to-date telephone contact details.

Face-to-face appointments

You may be invited to Raigmore Hospital for a face-to-face outpatient appointment.

It is a good idea to bring your appointment letter and show it at the reception desk.

Most appointments on site will be in the outpatient department. The outpatient entrance is one of the first buildings you see on your right after turning into the hospital site. Enter the outpatient clinic and ask at the reception desk for neuropsychology and you will be guided to the right clinic waiting room.
