Introduction

NHS Highland delivers care every day that changes lives. As the official charity of NHS Highland, we’re here to take that care to the next level, supporting projects and activities that go beyond what the NHS can deliver alone.

We help improve care for patients, residents and families, support staff development and enhance services across Highland and Argyll and Bute. Our work is shaped by the needs of local communities. By listening to patients, families and staff, we’re able to direct charitable funding where it can make the greatest difference, improving comfort, supporting recovery and helping people feel cared for at every stage of their journey.

NHS Highland Charity is the new working name of Highland Health Board Endowment Funds (Scottish Charity No. SC016791). We are the legal way that donations are received, managed and used to benefit NHS patients and staff across our region.

The charity has evolved over decades from a number of historic ‘endowment’ funds, brought together to create a single charity dedicated to supporting the work of NHS Highland. Working closely with NHS Highland and other partners, we help create environments that are more welcoming, care that is more person-centred, and opportunities that strengthen the workforce of today and the future.

From June 2026 you’ll start to see our new name and logo appearing in our communications and publications. You may still see references to both our names over the next few months as we make the transition and work to phase these out over time.
