Employability
NHS Highland’s Employability and Widening Access Strategy was approved by the Board in March 2025.

About the strategy
The Employability and Widening Access Strategy is about how we develop our workforce, and engage and develop the workforce of the future. It also highlights:
- our role as an anchor organisation
- how we work with our local communities and partners to develop plans to support key groups who may be facing barriers to employment
- create pathways for them to enter into employment
We have ambitious plans around:
- secondary school engagement across our Board area
- the development of apprenticeship opportunities across our job families
- developing widening access programmes to support those who may have struggled to access the labour market
