About the Service
The acute pain team is led by Dr Jacqueline Howes and staffed by Acute Pain Nurse Specialists Louise Rhodes and Claire Wright.
Supported by the rest of the anaesthetic department the team aims to aleviate and prevent acute pain throughout the hospital. The team make their presence felt by regularly visiting the surgical wards and good communication with our colleagues throughout the hospital.
In addition an excellent ongoing educational prgramme is organised and run for the benefit of nursing staff from all areas affected by acute pain covering such things as: epidural analgesia; PCA; PONV and local anaesthetics and their uses.
The team take part in junior doctors induction assisting in the difficult transition from student to Doctor
