About the maternity unit
Staff at the maternity unit provide midwifery, obstetric, medical, neonatal and anaesthetic care.
You will be advised to give birth in the maternity unit at Raigmore Hospital if you or your baby may need care from an obstetrician or other healthcare professionals before, during or after labour. Women with a straightforward pregnancy may still choose to give birth in Raigmore.
Midwives will care for you during labour and birth, and medical care is available.
