As the most northerly unit on the British mainland, the critical care unit covers a huge geographic area with a combination of remote, rural and urban issues.
Raigmore Hospital also serves as the receiving hospital for patients requiring critical care from the rural general hospitals in Wick and Fort William, and from community hospitals.
