A short explanation of the resources and services on offer from NHS Highland's Health Improvement Resource Service to help support health promotion activities.

About HIRS

The resources library covers the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership, and downloadable resources are also available for Argyll and Bute HSCP since April 2018.

Resources are available free of charge, in a range of formats to support health promotion activities. These include leaflets, posters and training materials. We also stock a range of items for loan such as models, educational games, equipment and training kits.

Topic areas include:

  • alcohol
  • drugs
  • early years
  • immunisation
  • mental health
  • nutrition
  • physical activity
  • screening
  • sexual health and contraception
  • tobacco

To search for, order and book out resources, please visit our website using the button above. You will need to register online before you can place an order and will be issued with a username and password.

Resources can be collected from our base in Inverness, or sent via internal mail to your nearest hospital or GP surgery - they can be returned in the same way. Please note we are unable to send out orders via external mail.

Please also note that stocks are subject to availability and we reserve the right to limit quantities requested. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please ask. We may be able to direct you to a supplier if we do not have it ourselves.
