Mr Colin McNair
Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Ophthamology; Orthopaedic ConsultantFollowing completion of undergraduate training in 2000, and postgraduate Basic Surgical Training, in Glasgow, Colin trained as a Specialist Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Aberdeen and Inverness. This was followed by further specialty training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Colin has over 15 years of experience as a consultant, over 10 years as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon within NHS Highland. He has been closely involved in the NTC Highland project since its inception. Colin has played an active role in training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons throughout his consultant career.

Mr James Beastall
Clinical Service Lead for Orthopaedics; Orthopaedic ConsultantQualified from the University of Aberdeen in 2000 and completed postgraduate training in the north of Scotland, followed by fellowship spells in Bristol and Baltimore. Has a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery, and has been a consultant at Raigmore Hospital since 2013. A past president of the Scottish Foot and Ankle Society, Foot and Ankle Scotland.

Miss Adeline Clement
Orthopaedic ConsultantGraduated from University of Aberdeen in 2006 with MBChB degree. Completed Foundation Training in the North of Scotland (2006-2008) followed by Core Surgical Training in London Deanery (2008-2009) before taking up national training number and completing orthopaedic training in the North of Scotland Deanery (2009-2017).
This was followed by a clinical hand and wrist fellowship at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Trust, London and observership at Groot Schuur Hospital, Cape Town (2018-2019) prior to appointment to NHS Highland as a consultant in 2019.
Within hand surgery, I have a special interest in Dupuytrens surgery, hand trauma, prevention of hand injuries and high pressure injection injuries of the hand. Adeline has completed the European Board of Hand Surgery diploma (2020) and a Masters in Clinical Education with the University of Aberdeen (2021) as she has a further interest in medical education and hand surgery service design.
In addition to her NHS work, Adeline is one of the North of Scotland Foundation Programme Directors for remote and rural residents, the lead for Foundation Trainees Surgical Society (FTSS) in Scotland, a Regional Surgical Ambassador for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and an honorary clinical lecturer and career mentor for the University of Aberdeen.

Orthopaedic ConsultantWorks within Raigmore Hospital as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon since June 2007. Main patients treated are primary lower limb arthroplasty, joint maintaining knee surgery. Also specialises in soft tissue knee surgery and trauma.

Mr Craig Reston
Orthopaedic ConsultantQualified from the University of Glasgow in 1995. Served in the Royal Navy for over 20 years, deploying overseas both as a junior doctor and an orthopaedic surgeon. On leaving the service worked in Peterborough City Hospital, Cambridgeshire as an Orthopaedic Consultant before relocating to NHS Highland in 2021. Has an interest in primary lower limb arthroplasty surgery and revision surgery of the hip.

Mr Farrukh Gillani
Orthopaedic ConsultantConsultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon based in Highland, excels in treating sports injuries and arthritic conditions affecting the knee. His Elective Orthopaedic Practice is based at Raigmore Hospital and National Treatment Centre - Highland in Inverness.
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery MBBS in 2004, having also completed a BSc degree. Farrukh Gillani completed his Basic Surgical Training in London and completed Membership of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh MRCS in 2010. He did his Specialist Orthopaedic Training in east of England and obtained his Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) in 2017.
After finishing his Specialist Orthopaedic Training, he did two Fellowships in Merseyside specialising in Knee Surgery and Trauma. The Knee Fellowship in Wirral was focussed on Total Knee Replacement, Partial Knee Replacement, ACL/Ligament and Meniscus/Cartilage Surgery. The Trauma Fellowship was in a Major Trauma Centre in Liverpool covering all aspects of simple and complex trauma.
Farrukh Gillani’s practice is dedicated to addressing knee problems. He is committed to conducting thorough assessments and investigations for his patients, always prioritising non-surgical methods of treatment whenever possible. However, when surgery becomes necessary, he is proficient in a wide array of procedures. These include Arthroscopic (Keyhole) Surgery, ACL/Ligament reconstruction, Meniscus/Cartilage Repair, Partial Knee Replacement and Total Knee Replacement. This focussed approach not only highlights Farrukh Gillani’s dedication to his specialty but also his commitment to providing the highest standard of care for individuals suffering from knee problems.
Farrukh Gillani has also helped to develop Adolescent Knee Soft Tissue Service in Highland and regularly treats patients requiring ACL Reconstruction, Meniscal (Cartilage) Repair and Knee Arthroscopic (Keyhole) Surgery.

Orthopaedic ConsultantStudied at Glasgow University from 1999-2005. MBChB and BSc (MedSci).
After graduating, completed Foundation Training in the west of Scotland, and was appointed to orthopaedic higher surgical training in East of Scotland Deanery. This was followed by a Spine Surgery fellowship in Sheffield prior to appointment to NHS Highland as a consultant in 2016.
In addition to NHS work, has volunteered for charity work providing trauma care in Kenya and is a match-day doctor for Ross County FC.

Mr Suddhajit Sen
Orthopaedic ConsultantConsultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and health care industry.
Mr Sen is a fellowship-trained hand surgeon, skilled in reconstructive hand and peripheral nerve surgery, trauma surgery, microsurgery, ultrasound-guided incision-less hand and wrist surgeries, ultrasound-guided upper limb injections and hand joint replacement surgeries.
Mr Sen is an Associate Director of Medical Education for NHS Highland. His qualifications are FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedics, a Diploma in Hand Surgery from the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS), a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Edge Hill University, and a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He is an honorary senior clinical lecturer for Dundee University.

Orthopaedic ConsultantMr Sadiq had his orthopaedic training from southeast of England. He had fellowship training in upper limb surgery from the prestigious Royal London Hospital. He has a special interest in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand problems. His previous experience includes working at university teaching hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham.
He routinely performs shoulder replacement and arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder surgery along with other upper limb problems e.g. carpal tunnel, Dupuytren's contracture, hand arthritis and tendonitis, tennis and golfers’ elbow, and elbow arthritis.
Orthopaedic physiotherapy

Ciaran McManus
Advanced Physiotherapy PractitionerGraduated from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown in 1997. Completed ward-based rotations in University Hospitals Aintree, Liverpool, and worked as a Musculoskeletal Specialist in physiotherapy departments in Dublin, Perth (Australia), Sydney, and Carlisle (England). Then spent eight years working in orthopaedics in Glasgow, completing postgraduate training in manual therapy, specialising in soft tissue knee injuries as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner.
Following a year in private practice in Napier, New Zealand in 2009, Ciaran moved to Inverness, working in General Practice and Raigmore Hospital. He was appointed as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2021. He has presented at National Physiotherapy Conference as well as British Elbow and Shoulder Society National Conference.

Claire Laurie
Advanced Physiotherapy PractitionerGraduated from Queen Margaret University 2001 BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy. Initial training at Raigmore Hospital before working in New Zealand in private practice. Returned to the UK to work in St John's Hospital, Livingston, as MSK Specialist. Whilst there also worked with Hearts Football Club, local rugby clubs and private clinics specialising in sports injuries in children and adults.
Returned to Raigmore Hospital in 2007 and completed PgDip Orthopaedic Technology and Rehabilitation via Dundee University. Set up and worked within the physiotherapy-led fracture clinics since 2017, and currently completing Masters degree in Strategic Planning and Delivery in Health and Social Care via Robert Gordon University.

Rolibeth (Roli) Cariazo
Arthroplasty Nurse PractitionerRolibeth (Roli) Cordero Cariazo is a dedicated Arthroplasty Clinical Nurse Specialist. A 1998 graduate of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Zamboanga City, Philippines, and passed the Integrated Comprehensive Nurses Licensure Examination in the same year.
Roli’s career began in the Philippines, where he worked in a military hospital, gaining valuable experience in general medical-surgical nursing. This was followed by several years working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, further developing expertise in International Healthcare settings.
After moving to the United Kingdom, Roli became an integral part of NHS Highland, contributing to various roles:
