Moving on and additional resources
At the end of the Flying Start NHS® programme, it is recommended that NQPs have a final meeting with their Flying Start Facilitator.
For discussion:
- overall learning and experience of the programme
- future development and aspirations
- how the NQP could use their learning to meet professional requirements
- how the NQP could share their learning with others

Additional resources
Within a practitioner’s career, they will be on a path of lifelong learning and should be thinking about ongoing career development opportunities and what steps are needed to reach career goals and ambitions. Furthermore, all practitioners must adhere to continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain skills and knowledge within their specialist field, in line with their regulatory body: The Code (NMC, 2018) and the HCPC Standards.
Practitioners may find the following national Turas Learn resources beneficial for their CPD:
- The NMAHP Development Framework, which can support the development of core knowledge, skills and behaviours in the four pillars of practice.
- The Leadership and Management Zone will provide you with development resources about leadership and management.
- The Effective Practitioner can help you find information, resources, and learning activities to enhance your CPD framed around the four Pillars of Practice.
- The Quality Improvement Zone (QI Zone) is a learning and resource site from NHS Education for Scotland Quality Improvement team which provides information and resources to support people with experience at all levels of quality improvement to develop their knowledge.
- The Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) guidance will guide you to the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) which supports Personal Development Planning and Review (PDPR).
- The Facilitation of Learning site is an interactive development programme for health and social care workers with a role in facilitating learning in the workplace.
