The Flying Start NHS® programme
Flying Start NHS® is the national development programme for all newly qualified nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals.
The Scottish Government asks all newly qualified practitioners to complete the Flying Start NHS® programme within their first year of practice. This helps them move smoothly from being a student to becoming a confident and capable health professional. The programme supports learning and development for NQPs working in all areas across Scotland. Although it’s mainly designed for NQPs, the content can also be helpful for practitioners returning to work and for international practitioners starting jobs in Scotland.
- The Flying Start NHS: guide to the programme offers a comprehensive overview for NQPs, facilitators, and line managers.
- Watch this short animation introducing the programme.
- The Flying Start NHS® Learning Hub provides a wide range of resources to support NQPs, facilitators, line managers, and Flying Start leads in getting the most from the programme.
