NHS Highland staff members were pleased to attend the Gaelic careers event Siuthad, which took place on Thursday 29 January at Eden Court.
The event brought together organisations and young people to celebrate the use of Gaelic in professional settings and to promote future career opportunities through the medium of the Gaelic language.
Secondary school pupils from across the Highlands who are currently studying Gaelic at a fluent level took part in the event. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to engage with a range of employers, learning about the variety of career pathways available to them where Gaelic language skills can be actively used and developed. The event aimed to encourage young people to consider how their Gaelic studies can support and enhance their future career choices.
NHS Highland staff spoke with students about the wide range of career opportunities available within the organisation, spanning clinical, administrative, and support roles. They highlighted the value of Gaelic as a desirable and increasingly important skill within NHS Highland, particularly in supporting effective communication and culturally sensitive care for Gaelic-speaking patients and communities.
The event also provided an opportunity to reinforce NHS Highland’s ongoing commitment to promoting and supporting the use of Gaelic within the organisation and across the communities it serves.
