This uplifting project, supported by the Corra UNCRC Innovation Fund, illuminates the important issues faced by young carers and highlights their rights across the UK.
The heart-warming animation film Young Carers and Children’s Rights in Argyll and Bute (watch it here), developed in partnership with Crossroads Caring for Carers Cowal and Bute young carers, Helensburgh and Lomond Carers Centre young carers, and produced with the help of Media Co-op, has proudly emerged as a finalist in the esteemed Smiley Charity Film Awards.
This uplifting project, supported by the Corra UNCRC Innovation Fund, illuminates the important issues faced by young carers and highlights their rights across the UK. The film was developed in the final months of 2024, unveiled to an audience at the Dunoon Burgh Hall in 2025, and promoted through media channels across Argyll and Bute.
The film artfully portrays the lives of young carers, emphasising their indispensable contributions to their loved ones and communities. The acknowledgement by the Smiley Charity Film Awards highlights the significance of raising awareness and championing the rights of young carers.

We urge them to contact their nearest carers' centre to get a support assessment and complete a Young Carers Statement.”
