The Highland Health Board Endowment Fund Charity (SC016791) is proud to announce the publication of its 2024-25 Annual Report, celebrating a landmark year of generosity, growth and impact across Highland and Argyll and Bute, with over £2 million in donations received.
As the official charity of NHS Highland, the Endowment Fund supports hospitals, social care services, staff and communities. Thanks to the generosity of patients, families and partner organisations, the charity has extended its reach further than ever before, with charitable spending at its highest level since 2020.
Highlights from the year include:
- An historic £1 million donation to transform ophthalmology services, since followed by a further £645,000 from the same generous donor, ensuring lasting improvements in ophthalmic care for patients across the region.
- The launch of a three-year project to strengthen the resilience, wellbeing, and leadership of Raigmore Hospital nurses, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
- Investment in cutting-edge medical equipment, including new support for the endoscopy service and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
- A pioneering social prescribing project for young people’s mental health, supported by a competitive Innovation Challenge grant from NHS Charities Together and match funded by the charity.
- Continued investment in research, green spaces, enhanced patient environments, and innovative models of care that improve health and wellbeing.
Philip MacRae, Chair of the Endowment Funds Committee, said: "This year has shown the extraordinary power of generosity to transform care and strengthen our NHS Highland community. From pioneering mental health support for young people to major investments in patient services and staff wellbeing, every gift has helped us go further than we thought possible. We are deeply grateful to everyone who stands with us - your support is changing lives across Highland and Argyll and Bute."
The Annual Report not only details many of the brilliant projects delivered in the past year but also sets out the charity’s ambitions for the future. By continuing to invest in innovation, staff wellbeing, and enhanced patient care, the charity is committed to helping NHS Highland go above and beyond.
