Jason Zuccarini has been appointed as the Heartstart Training Supervisor for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board (GGC).
His responsibilities also include working closely in partnership with Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). With over 10 years of extensive experience in emergency response and a steadfast commitment to community service, Jason is exceptionally equipped to excel in this new role.
Heartstart is a program designed to educate young people and adults on how to respond in life-threatening situations. The two-hour training session equips participants with essential skills, including recognising cardiac arrest, performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The training also covers basic emergency life support techniques, such as identifying heart attacks and dealing with choking incidents in adults, children and infants.
Under his leadership, the program aims to broaden its outreach, ensuring that more children and adults acquire essential skills for managing life-threatening emergencies. Jason is dedicated to volunteers, co-ordinators, community members and local businesses to ensure they gain confidence in their CPR skills, AED usage, and basic life support techniques and training. He is actively working alongside a committed team of volunteers to enhance the program's reach throughout Argyll and Bute.
Samantha Campbell, Public Health Principal at the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), stated, “Argyll and Bute HSCP recognises the immense value of teaching life support skills. This program has been a successful training initiative for over 27 years, thanks to the dedication and commitment of past and present Heartstart Supervisors and volunteer/Coordinators involved in delivering the courses.
"I would like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers for their commitment and hard work, and I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Jason success in his new role.”
Experienced Heartstart coordinators and volunteers provide training in their own time to communities and schools throughout Argyll and Bute. With over 140 between Argyll and Clyde, these volunteers have been providing vital life-saving training and services for over 27 years, with a further 60 volunteers delivering training for 6 years and more.
Jason's vision for Heartstart includes innovative training methods and increased training accessibility, particularly in Argyll and Bute's remote and rural communities. He is keen to recruit and fully train new additional Heartstart volunteer instructors within Argyll and Bute communities.
Jason said: “It is an honour to collaborate with the dedicated Heartstart volunteers. They form a passionate and driven group of volunteer instructors who strive to train as many children and adults they can.”
