Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Elizabeth Dicker as a Salaried General Practitioner (GP), commencing on 2 June.

Her appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first Salaried GP to be employed by the Health Board across Kilcreggan and Garelochhead practices. We are eager to build upon this foundation and will soon initiate another recruitment phase to address the remaining GP vacancies at both sites.

Rowena Japp, Primary Care Manager for Board Managed Practices, Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, stated: “We are absolutely delighted that, following a rigorous interview process, we have successfully appointed Dr. Dicker. Her appointment will ensure that we continue to have a high-quality health professional dedicated to providing a safe, resilient, and sustainable service to the communities we serve.”

Dr. Dicker, who is commonly referred to as Lizzie, is a highly regarded and respected member of the local community, with extensive experience and knowledge in her professional field. She has worked in general practice for three years. She has recently served at a GP practice in Helensburgh and gained locum experience at Garelochhead, alongside providing out-of-hours care in the Vale of Leven Hospital (VOLH).


Dr. Dicker is a graduate of Cambridge University, where she completed her medical studies, before undertaking her GP training with Greater Glasgow & Clyde (GGC) and continuing her practice in Helensburgh. Her professional dedication demonstrates her commitment to maintaining stability and continuity at both the Garelochhead and Kilcreggan Medical Centres, Additionally, she has a keen interest in quality improvement.

Dr.Dicker said: “I'm excited to be joining the team at Garelochhead and Kilcreggan. I'm looking forward to working with both the staff and patients to provide quality care, and the opportunity to do some work to improve the patient experience across both practices.

We extend our warmest welcome to Dr. Dicker and can confirm GP services in both practices will continue to be delivered by locums until the new arrangements come into place on 2 June 2025.
