A community walk, organised by NHS Highland Community Mental Health Services with: HUG Action for Mental Health; Centred; Spirit Advocacy and other third sector partners, will take place in Inverness on Thursday 15 May, spreading a message of hope, unity and togetherness.
The walk, which will take place during Mental Health Awareness Week and is titled Bridge of Hope - One Bridge, One Breath, One Shared Journey - will begin at 16:00 at The Gathering Place, Bught Road, Inverness IV3 5SQ. All are invited, whether they have lived experience, have supported a loved one or simply care about mental health, to walk side-by-side in solidarity and support.
Participants will follow a reflective and inclusive route through the heart of Inverness, symbolising the shared steps we all take towards greater understanding and recovery. The walk will conclude with a warm welcome and refreshments at Ness Bank Church Hall from 17:00 to 18:00.
As a visual symbol of hope and awareness, Ness Bridge will be lit in green and yellow, with green representing hope, resilience, growth, and healing, and yellow symbolising positivity and optimism.
John Beaton, Chief Officer of Spirit Advocacy, said: “The Bridge of Hope walk is a chance for us all to step forward together, to show that no matter our background or experience, we all belong in a community that values hope, connection, and recovery. Whether you’re walking for yourself, a loved one, or for the future we want to see, your presence matters.”
The event is open to individuals, families, friends, carers, colleagues, peers, and anyone who wishes to show support for mental health. No booking is necessary, and all are welcome to join this shared moment of reflection, movement, and community connection.
