Local infant feeding support groups

These groups run throughout Highland and can provide breastfeeding support in an informal environment. They provide mum-to-mum support and can help with breastfeeding difficulties, but you do not need to have a problem to come along. You are very welcome to attend these groups when you are pregnant too.

Most groups are facilitated by one of our infant feeding support workers.

Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme

NHS Highland supports Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland (BFS). This is a national scheme you can sign up to for free. It's backed by Scottish Government and run by local health boards. It aims to help businesses and people who breastfeed know their rights and responsibilities.

You can feed your baby anywhere that you and your baby are legally allowed to be in Scotland. However, if you are worried about feeding when you are out and about, look for the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland sticker (image below). This lets you know that the business or organisation displaying the sticker understands their responsibility towards breastfeeding mothers.
