Single Points Of Access (SPOA) for community health services

Single points of access in each district in the Highland HSCP area for integrated teams within community health services.
How might the SPOA help me or someone I care for?
The SPOA is for people who have been to the emergency department and don’t need to stay in hospital, but do need other support. The SPOA team are able to find out what support there might be. This could be for:
- care at home
- care homes
- day care
- social work
- adult support and protection
- community occupational therapy
- community physiotherapy
- community mental health
- district nursing
- drug and alcohol services

Emergencies outside of office hours
For social work emergencies between 5pm and 9am only please contact the Emergency Social Work Service:

They provide a limited service for urgent issues only (not for routine enquiries) - overnight, at weekends or on public holidays.
Enquiries during office hours
SPOA teams in each district are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (except Sutherland, where the team is available between 8am and 4pm). See the geographical boundary of each district in the map below.
