01/12/2009Guidelines

This guidance provides information about improving accessibility for all NHS Highland patients, carers, staff and all Highland communities making contact with NHS Highland.

It has been developed to ensure that NHS Highland staff have the knowledge and resources to provide sensitive services that recognise the needs of the individual. By working this way NHS Highland will be able to address inequalities and increase equality of access to services provided by NHS Highland to all members of our community.

16/11/2006Report

This has been a good year for NHS Highland.  We have seen hospital waiting times
dramatically reduced from where they were a few years ago. More and more people are surviving heart attacks, strokes and cancer. Through the skill of our consultants, GPs, nursing staff, therapists and countless others, working in the background, people suffering from all kinds of medical conditions are enjoying a far higher quality of life than could have been dreamed of a few years ago.

These and many other improvements have been achieved through a variety of ways. Not least we have had large increases in funding over the last few years. We are now responsible for spending over half a billion pounds a year which works out at almost £1,700 for every man women and child in the area.

04/01/2008Report
2006/7 saw some notable successes for NHS Highland. Due to a lot of hard work from all of our staff we met a number of the demanding targets set by the Government. The process of constant improvement never stops and we continue to make a difference
for patients by speeding up care and improving quality since April.
