First impressions
The diagnosis of diabetes almost always comes as a 'shock'. It is a long term condition that will be with you for the rest of your life and you will always need to be conscious of your diagnosis and devote some of your time to making sure your diabetic control is going to plan.
Diabetes cannot be cured as yet but much good work has been done in understanding and controlling the condition and with practice you will find that you can develop the necessary skills to 'take charge'. It is a well worn cliché that you should 'control your diabetes rather than let your diabetes control you'.
Looking after your health is now even more important. Healthy eating and increasing your levels of physical activity will help you take control of your diabetes and prevent long term complications. You can find out more about this from this website, the Scottish diabetes information portal “My Diabetes My Way” and Diabetes UK.
