Incident reporting encouraged by NHS Highland

12/12/2007   |  Argyll & Bute; Mid Highland; North Highland; South East Highland

NHS Highland welcomes today’s Quality Improvement Scotland report on Incident Reporting Culture. Our work in this area is at the heart of efforts to keep patients safe.

We took immediate action on feedback from the researchers back in 2005 and have a policy and procedures which emphasise our commitment to an open and fair culture of reporting incidents. This ensures that lessons can be learned.

Staff are given training on when and how to file reports. Reporting is constantly promoted along with feedback to staff, committees and professional groups.

Incidents are also reported to the NHS Highland Board Performance meetings, including examples of action taken to reduce risk in the future.
