Chairman of NHS Highland, Garry Coutts, said:
“I know that some people feel that a name change is important and others
don’t. The NHS Board wants to know how people think about this issue and I
hope that people who have strong feelings either way will get in touch with
us.”
He added:
“Local management of local health services is very important. From April, the
health services in Argyll & Bute will be managed by the locally based management team of the Argyll & Bute Community Health Partnership.”
Note for Editors:
Around 1,000 simple questionnaires have been distributed to a range of
community councils, staff, etc right across the Highlands and Argyll & Bute.
The questionnaire is also available on the NHS Highland website at
www.show.scot.nhs.uk/nhshighland/. People are being asked to let us know
their views before the 24th March 2006. They can also send in their views by
email to : pfpi@hhb.scot.nhs.uk
The legal title of the NHS Board is “Highland Health Board”, and this cannot
be changed without the agreement of Parliament. However, we can change
the title in day to day use, whilst maintaining the legal title under which we
operate as a public body.
