Oban, Lorn & Isles Public Partnership Forum

03/12/2007   |  Argyll & Bute

In early December there is an opportunity for members of the public in Oban and surrounding communities to become engaged in a new way with NHS Highland at a local level.

This is through the Oban, Lorn & Isles Locality Public Partnership Forum (PPF), hosted by the Oban, Lorn & the Isles Locality Health Forum.

The first meeting of this new locality PPF will take place on 10th December 2007 in the Main Hall at the Church of Scotland Centre, Glencruitten Road, Oban, starting at 6:40pm.

The PPF is open to anyone within Argyll and Bute, regardless of age, gender, ability, faith, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Members of the local public are encouraged to attend this inaugural meeting to find out more about the PPF and if they want, to become more involved in influencing the delivery of health services in their area.

Information sheets and registration forms will be available on the day.  These will explain more about the way in which the PPF has been established and how members of the public can be involved in decision making about the health services that are provided in their area.

The subjects on the agenda for this inaugural meeting are:

· Scottish Ambulance Service
· Mental Health Service
· Overview of unscheduled care redesign, including A&E at Lorn & the    Isles District General Hospital
· Protected meal times at Lorn & the Isles District General Hospital

If you have any issues you would like to be included in future meetings of the PPF please let us know.

Notes to Editors:
The role of Public Partnership Forums is detailed within Statutory Guidance from the Scottish Government health department as follows:
· ensure the PPF is able to inform local people about local services through the PPF and local means.
· engage local users, carers and the public about how to improve health services.
· Support wider public involvement through planning and decision making and to seek to make public services more responsive and accountable to citizens and local communities.
