Ronnie has become familiar and friendly face to staff and patients alike, many will remember him and his trolley doing the rounds on the wards before ill-health forced him to stay in the shop, parked on his stool getting the ‘craic’ with all who come by.
Anne McKenzie, Project Manager for the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) who run the shops at Raigmore Hospital, has worked with Ronnie for the past year and will miss him when he goes. She explains:
“Ronnie is such a character, he is forever joking and having a bit of banter with all who come along to the shop. He gets to know the regulars and you can often hear him in the morning questioning their choice of football team or checking their eyes to see if they were out the night before. It’s never dull with him around and he will certainly be missed.”
Ronnie has no plans for his retirement yet but does admit he will miss working at Raigmore. He says:
“I’ll definitely miss the craic here. I enjoy meeting everyone and getting to know folk who I see everyday when they come for their papers. It’s time for me to move on but rest assured that I will be keeping people on their toes right up until the day I leave!”
A presentation will be held for Ronnie on 31st March at 3pm in Raigmore Hospital’s Coffee Lounge, journalists / photographers are invited to attend.
