Consultation on pharmaceutical care in the NHS Highland area

19/12/2011   |  Argyll & Bute; Mid Highland; North Highland; South East Highland

NHS Highland is inviting local people to have their say on pharmaceutical services in the Board area.

NHS Boards are required by the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Amendment regulations 2011 to publish pharmaceutical care plans and update them annually.

Head of Community Pharmaceutical Services, Mary Morton, explained that the purpose of the Pharmaceutical Care Services Plan is to provide information on the pharmaceutical care services currently available within NHS Highland.

She said: “This should help us find any potential gaps in service provision and identify what is needed to fill them. It also enables us to inform and involve members of the public, health professionals and planners in the planning of pharmaceutical services.

“The draft 2012-13 Pharmaceutical Care Services Plan is currently out for consultation and we would welcome any views on this, particularly comments on whether local people feel it meets their requirements for pharmaceutical services.”

The plan can be found on the NHS Highland website at http://www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk/Meetings/PharmacyPracticesCommittee/Pages/welcome.aspx

Responses need to be submitted by the end of February 201 and should be sent to High-UHB.PCSPlan@nhs.net

Anyone wanting additional information should call Mary Morton on 01463 706809. Hard copies of the plan are available from Aileen Trappitt on 01463 706886.
