He said:
“I am delighted that the Minister has agreed to create another three
non-executive members for the new NHS Board covering Argyll and Highland
to ensure that the unique geography of the area we serve from 1st April is fully
covered. Although Non-executives are responsible for services throughout the
whole of the Board area, rather than representing a particular locality, it will be
helpful to have Board members who will understand the real issues facing
people throughout Argyll and Bute.
Largely our Non Executive Directors are currently white, middle-aged, and
able-bodied, so would be keen to recruit members who can bring a different
perspective to our discussions.
We also need to ensure we have the expertise on the board to properly
scrutinise all of our activity so it would also be good if we could attract
someone with experience in the area of finance to compliment the skills of our
existing members.”
He felt that people would find it a rewarding experience.
“It is not always an easy role, but it is an important one. I and my colleagues
on the NHS Board also find it a rewarding role. These are always serious
issues were dealing with at NHS Board level and we all want to get it right. If
you think you have something to offer, please come forward and help us in our
ambition to make The Highlands and Argyll the healthy place to be.”
